Dr PA Olivier specialises exclusively in the orthopaedic medicolegal assessment of individuals with trauma-related injuries and general orthopaedic conditions.
After practising as a general orthopaedic surgeon for more than 25 years, during which time he also conducted medicolegal assessments and prepared medicolegal reports, Dr Olivier transitioned to full-time medicolegal practice.
Since 2014, the scope of his practice has been exclusively focused on orthopaedic medicolegal assessments and the compilation of medicolegal reports. He no longer provides clinical consultations, treatment, or surgical services, and his practice is dedicated solely to independent medicolegal evaluation and reporting.
Services rendered include the following:
- Examination of patients in order to compile medicolegal reports.
- Studying of radiographs, clinical notes, etc. in order to give an opinion about an orthopaedic condition.
- Orthopaedic assessment of patients in order to determine the merits of possible medical negligence.
- Preparation of the joint minutes.
- Interpretation of the health-related reports, such as reports by occupational therapists, physiotherapists, etc.
- Applying the American Medical Association Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment in order to determine the whole person impairment (AMA Guides).
- Completion of RAF 4 forms.
- Assessment of children who suffered hypoxic brain injuries in order to determine the long-term sequelae.
- Preparation of opinions regarding pain and suffering, loss of amenities of life, disfigurement as well as future employability following orthopaedic trauma and related conditions.
